Rwandan Debate Reflection
I thought the Debate was a great experience and a fun way to get students involved in their learning. It was great practice for SIMUN and MAMUN when I do those in the future. It helped me learn how a formal debate is run. It also made me come out of my social bubble and learn to work with others. This was difficult at first because I'm used to working with my little group of friends. But then I realized that you don't need your friends to be successful. one can work with people they are unaccustomed to and still succeed! Another thing was that the mood of the debate lightened quit a bit when Mason got upset at the Interhamwe. Also, it helped me get out of my little bubble in Livonia Michigan; to learn that more important things happen in the world than what's happening in my brain and that I need to be aware of the world around me.
