Debate Reflection

The Rwandan Debate was a great experience. It was interesting being forced to defend a side I knew was in the wrong, and also to hear others do the same. I can't believe how much the whole world knew when the Rwandan Genocide was taking place, and how we did next to nothing to stop it. I think the whole point of this debate was to highlight how all of the countries/organizations involved in this situation were equally guilty of letting this go on, especially after the "Never Again" pledge taken at the end of WWII. Everyone did make some good cases in their defense, but maybe the question we should be pondering now isn't "Who's responsible?" or "Why did this happen the way it did?" Maybe the question we should be pondering now is: "How can we make sure that we act the next time this happens?"
